We left the dock at Orikum, Albania this morning around 7am. There was, and is very little wind so we know it will be a motoring day. To travel south, we had to go north from Orikum, which is tucked at the south end of a long bay. That made it necessary to go around a northern promontory. As we rounded it, we observed several war bunkers.
The sea has less wave and more swell so it is very calm and has a slight bobbing with gentle roll motion. Very comfortable overall. It’s easy to move about the boat, but smart to keep a hand hold.
This part of Albania’s coast is both rugged and steep.
Christine served up what was left of a yogurt drink we purchased. Chris had on occasion seen Albanians drinking what appeared to be a white yogurt liquid. Temptation got the better of us and we purchased a bottle. It was perfectly awful. A taste akin to Elmer’s glue but with the opposite effect.
It’s been a long day of motoring. We finally reached our destination, an anchorage tucked up along the shore of southern Albania. Some young kids in a ski boat dropped by for a few minutes and went for a swim near us. A Turkish Gulet (old wooden) boat with tourists just set anchor near us as well.
It’s late afternoon ~4pm and been a long day. Time to enjoy a beer . . .
