A New Experience

Quite often, due to the constant moving from one place to the next, we get to have new experiences. For example, navigating the locks of the Caledonian Canal in Scotland, something we had never done before.

Today, we experienced participating in the herd of boats passing the floating bridge at Lefkas. We arrived a few minutes early and held station until the floatilla started herding through the corral. We took our place among them.

As I write this, we have reached the southern end of the canal/channel. There is just enough of a breeze to carry us forward on the headsail. The bay between Lefkada and main land Greece is quite beautiful. The hills (mountains) are full of trees and the coast is dotted with houses and towns.

This is what travel by sail is all about. New experiences, picturesque scenery slowly drifting by and AutoPilot is doing the steering while we sit, relax, and enjoy. . .

Lefkada island on our starboard as we sail south.
7 knots of breeze, sailing at 3.3 knots very comfortably
